Urrbrae excels at the 2026 Hamilton Sheepvention Rural Expo! 🐑🌟
Over the past 40+ years, Sheepvention has grown into a vibrant platform, celebrating the many facets of the agricultural sector with a focus on the sheep industry.
Sheepvention Rural Expo
Urrbrae exhibited four rams and four ewes which were bred as part of the Urrbrae Suffolk Stud 2025 program, with a total of 66 Suffolk Exhibits from 10 different studs representing two states entered in the Suffolk Competition. The results the Urrbrae Show Team achieved were outstanding, including:
-Champion Ram
-3rd Place Pen of Two Rams
-3rd Place Progeny Group
-4th Place Group of Three from any Class
The Sheep Club students were excellent ambassadors for Urrbrae, assisting many other breeders and participating in the Sheep Hamdling and Judging Competitions in which the following students achieved;
-Supreme Champion Judge: Lainie Jackson (Year 12)
-First Place Judging: Lainie Jackson
-3rd Place Judging: Charlotte Pardoe (Year 11)
-Finalists Judging: Ava Richards, Gracie Talbot, Ewan Ince (Year 10) Charlotte Pardoe and Lainie Jackson

This was the first year Urrbrae has participated in this major sheep industry event, which provided significant learning experiences for our Sheep Club students. The feedback from the Hamilton Show Society and the broader community was extremely positive, well done to all the students who attended and represented Urrbrae so well!

Following their visit to Sheepvention 2026 in Hamilton, we were delighted to welcome students and teachers from Urrbrae Agricultural High School to Nepowie, for a pit stop.
When one of our former work experience students, Tilly, suggested the stop, Beck, Simon and the team, were only too pleased to host the group and share more about McBride and our Nepowie Stud.
Students also heard from our Overseer, Ebony, a proud Urrbrae alum, who shared her career journey and experience working in the sheep industry.
A big thank you to teachers Charlton Jeisman and Elise Baum, and all the students for taking the time to visit.
We believe “you can’t be what you can’t see.” By opening our gates and sharing stories like Tilly’s and Ebony’s, we hope to inspire more young people to explore the rewarding careers agriculture has to offer.
We’d love to welcome you back again!

The Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society has again provided a unique optional opportunity for Urrbrae students to be involved in the 2026 Wool Stewarding activities. 🐑
This experience was promoted to students who have a particular interest in the sheep and wool industry and provided practical experience in the preparation and judging of the many sheep fleeces for the 2026 Royal Adelaide Show Wool Competition. Students were rostered for one day during last week from Tuesday to Thursday. After this experience students can also participate in the Wool Judging Competition as part of the Royal Adelaide Show in September.
