Uniform/Dress Code

• To provide a safe and inclusive school environment.

• To provide clear and equitable uniform expectations for all students.
• To support a learning environment where students feel connected and included.

To achieve these purposes, the following apply:

• The uniform support a learning environment where students feel connected and included.
• Uniform choices consider affordability, accessibility, safety and the practical learning needs of students.
• Approved uniform is expected to be worn correctly and maintained in good condition.
• Specific clothing, footwear or PPE may be required for practical activities to meet WHS requirements.
• Reasonable adjustments or exemptions may be considered for cultural, religious, medical, financial or other individual circumstances.

Written applications for exemption on cultural, medical or religious grounds will be considered.

Taking into account recommendations from the Anti-Cancer Foundation an Urrbrae Agricultural High School Hat Policy has been adopted.

Whenever outdoors, for lessons or breaks, students are encouraged to wear a broad brimmed hat, use a broad spectrum sunscreen and wear Australian standard sunglasses.

For Agriculture and Physical Education, outdoor practical classes and for playing on the oval during Terms 1 and 4, the wearing of a hat is compulsory.
Beanies/caps, if worn at school, must be removed before entering indoor learning spaces.

Discreet jewellery only, for work health and safety reasons.
No visible piercing other than earlobes.

Leadership reserve the right to discuss the wearing of jewellery and make up that is deemed inappropriate for school.

Parents/carers and students enrolling at Urrbrae Agricultural High School are expected to support the school’s uniform requirements by ensuring that approved uniform items are worn correctly, are maintained in good condition, and meet the school’s published uniform guidelines. Where a student is not meeting uniform expectations, the school will work with the student and, where appropriate, their family to address the concern. Ongoing or repeated non-compliance will be managed in accordance with the school’s Student Behaviour Management Procedures.

School and promotional photographs carry additional expectations because these images formally represent the school and may be shared with families, the wider community, external organisations or through school publications and promotional material. The presentation of students in these photographs contributes to the public representation and expectations of the school and should therefore reflect the standards outlined in the school’s uniform guide.

Students participating in official school or promotional photographs are expected to be wearing the correct school uniform. As a minimum requirement often is around school compliant jeans and excessive jewellery being addressed before a student image can be taken. Depending on the purpose, setting and intended use of the photograph, further consideration may also be given to items such as visible undershirts, footwear and theoverall presentation of the uniform.

Where a uniform concern is identified, reasonable efforts will be made to support the student to meet the required standard. This may include providing an appropriate replacement item, allowing the student anopportunity to correct the issue or adjusting the photograph where practical.

Students are to wear the uniform at the Royal Show, or Agriculture events. Show Team staff are to support students to purchase the uniform. Students can borrow the uniform if the are attending the Show/event for a limited time, or financial constraints are impacting the student’s family.

Staff are to ensure that students are consistently presented in the Show team uniform when on show. Examples of this are:

* During the Grand Parade
* During a show class (unless another uniform is specified by the Breed or the Show
* When students are caring for/presenting animals which are on display to the public

Where possible, staff should role model wearing the Show Team uniform appropriately.
Please note: Other Urrbrae Show Team uniforms are no longer apart of the Show Team uniform.
