Barn Market

The School Council and a group of dedicated parents are responsible for running the market. The market opens on the first Saturday of each month (March to November) from 9am to 12 Midday and is held in the Urrbrae School carpark off Fullarton Road (Gate A). There are a selection of staff and students present to assist with the sale of school produce, as well as private stall holders offering a wide variety of goods for sale.

Others pop in for a delicious coffee, muffin or BBQ sausage cooked by the School Council.

Volunteer Information

Volunteering is of course a great way to engage with the community. It also provides a valuable opportunity to foster relationships between parents, staff and students, as well as helping assist the school in an essential fundraising endeavor. Plus it’s always a fun event.

Market set-up is between 7:00-8:00am. This is the busiest time for volunteers and is where the most support is needed.

Setup tasks include:
-Setting up the BBQ
-Sorting the bread and produce and setting up the barn
-Setting up the kitchen coffee machine
-Organising the cellar door
-Setting up tables and chairs for the dining area
-Setting up stalls for music, student agribusiness and plant sales
-Assisting stallholders

Retail support is required between 8:00am-12:00pm, this includes:
-Produce sales
-Cellar door sales
-BBQ – serving food / cash handling
-Coffee barista
-Plant sales
-General support for re-stocking and assisting stalls / barn

The market officially closes at 12 which is then followed by pack up & clean-up, which is usually all done by about 12:30

We thank you for giving your time to support the school and really appreciate the valued role that volunteers play.
