New Artworks Installed – Collaboration with Elizabeth Close

We’re excited to share that our collaborative artworks, inspired by artist Elizabeth Close, have now been installed in the Urrbrae Library!

These two new pieces were created by students in direct response to the external mural painted by Close earlier this year. Elements from the mural were laser cut into sculptural forms, giving students the opportunity to reimagine them using painted designs that reflect the mural’s distinctive colour palette and symbolic motifs.

Each student painted their own unique design onto a laser-cut shape, drawing inspiration from the colours and forms used in the original mural. These individual pieces were then brought together and assembled into two collaborative artworks that reflect the spirit and visual language of Elizabeth Close’s mural, while celebrating student creativity and expression.

These pieces were developed during workshops with Elizabeth Close and thoughtfully arranged by students as part of a collaborative installation. We’re proud to see them now on display — a vibrant reminder of the power of shared storytelling and creativity.
